Writing in your own words forces understanding, that’s why it’s important to rephrase and ‘translate’ text into your own words. If you outsource this process by either copying highlights or quotes, or even worse, LLM’s you’re basically undercutting yourself of growth opportunities.

If you do not think for yourself, not only will your ability to understand not develop like a muscle, you might as well never really understand the problem or text at hand. If you start out sourcing things that you used to do, the skill or ‘muscle’ will wither.
