Brotli is a relative new kid on the block in the lossless data compression scene.
NOTE: I haven’t done research into the actual performance of this algorithm, the performance statements could be false!
According to the internet, Brotli is a great canditate for text compression as it offers great ratios. Especially when you use them to pre compressed. It is however also slower and more resource intensive then other algorithms, making it less attractive for on the fly compression.
Other popular compression algorithms are zstd and gnu gzip.
