While you or your players are creating new characters for any adventure it should be mandatory to have some sort of connection.
Organisations (adventuring’s guild, church, …) are common connections.

Nobody likes a lone wolf that has no reason to be in an adventure or in a group. Create or let players create characters with clear motivation why they are or want to adventure together.
